Dragon Age: Inquisition will have two different ways to approach battles. The first is action based where you control characters in real time and perform moves by pressing buttons with pre-assigned moves. This trailer showcases the alternative way to engage enemies via the Tactical Camera.
The Tactical Camera lets players pause the action so that they can have better control over their situation. In the video, we see that you’ll be able to move a cursor around the battlefield and put it over certain enemies to gauge their strengths and weaknesses. Once that’s done, the player puts the party into strategic positions. Alexandra, the party’s tank, is sent right into the front lines. Varric, the archer, is set far away so that his arrow attacks are more effective. Finally, the player character, a rogue, sneaks up on enemies and does stealth attacks.
This mode was only available in Dragon Age: Origins for the PC, so it’s good that not only has it made a return, but is available to console owners as well. Dragon Age: Inquisition is a game about choice, so it’s good that even its battle system gives players different options.
Dragon Age: Inquisition will be released for the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on November 18.
