This latest video from Sony’s YouTube channel isn’t the usual trailer or developer diary. This video shows how one of Sony’s most iconic studios, Sony Santa Monica, leaves their old developer studio at Penn Station and finds a new home at The Reserve. Considering how long the team has been at Penn Station, leaving it was quite emotional for them.
The video details why the move was necessary for the studio to grow and how the move itself is symbolic of starting over again, particularly on the PlayStation 4. We get to see the studio’s new logo which is simplistic in design but will help to showcase whatever game its on by adopting that game’s colors or even by showing a specific character within the logo. The video also shows how the team got to know their new studio better by participating in a fun meta game.
Though the studio that the team is currently in may be new, the legacy that they’ve built will always remain. There is little doubt that the team will continue to produce high quality video games from their new home in The Reserve.
