Konami has today announced that the price for the XB1 and PS4 versions of upcoming game MGSV Ground Zeroes has been reduced down to $30 for a physical copy of the game, matching the Xbox 360 and PS3 prices.
Check out the official press release of the announcement below:
“KONAMI has also announced that it will offer both physical and digital versions of METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, for an SRP of $29.99. Bringing pricing in-line with the “current generation” price, KONAMI aims to provide as many people as possible an opportunity to experience Kojima Productions’ FOX Engine and the first installment in the two-part METAL GEAR SOLID V experience. METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft will remain at the SRP of $29.99 for retail and via download for SRP $19.99.”
There had been a lot of complaining about the price of this game when people heard that it could be finished in under two hours. Fortunately for those people who wanted to play it on the new consoles, they now can for $10 less. It’s nice that the prices are the same on all systems. It did seem a bit unfair to charge more on the Xbox One and PS4 when it is essentially just the same game that looks a bit better. Unfortunately, Konami are still asking for $30 for the digital version on the new gen consoles, which is still $10 more.
What do you think of the price reduction? Was it the right move? Will you be picking up the game? Let me know in the comments below.
