The Playlist | #11 (Rapsody, Black Milk, Remus, and more)

Consider this 11th volume of The Playlist a…wake up call of sorts.

Over an incredibly sick beat from The Alchemist via Mac Miller’s underrated album Watching Movies With The Sound Off, Remus of BLVK BLVD puts listeners to task with “Top 5?” With impressive wordplay the UK emcee carries us lyrically through a braggadocios narrative you’ll rewind quite a few times, catching new things with each play-through. Fellow BLVK BLVD member Wize has been mentioned on The Koalition before and this collective is certainly on the come up.

With all of the buzz surrounding Kendrick Lamar’s new single “i”, I missed out on Rapsody dropping arguably the hardest track of the year. The Song of the Week goes to her 9th Wonder produced joint “Hard To Choose”, which a friend of mine forced me to sit down and listen to. I admittedly have slept on Rapsody for a minute, but her chemistry with 9th is on full display with this track and she drops some ill knowledge for sure.

With new Mick Jenkins, Childish Gambino, Tre Capital, and more, there’s plenty to check out on The Playlist this week. Share it with your friends and discuss your favorite cuts down in the comments below. Will you be checking for new music from these artists? Voice your opinions and help this compilation grow. Enjoy.
