In this exclusive interview with Melanin Gamers founder Annabel (Anzy) A.A, Annabel tells the world about the Melanin Gamers community and her official mission statement. She speaks on why representation is important in the gaming industry and breaks down the multiple phases of her mission to make the industry aware that we (POCs) exist and that we need to be represented. Everyone is invited to be a part of the Melanin Gamer movement, and you can aid in Annabel’s mission by hitting her up on social media.
Annabel also speaks on some of the panels she’s held at events such as EGX (Eurogamer Expo), EGX Rezzed and MCM Comic Con. I then asked for more details on her upcoming event at the Microsoft Store in Oxford Circus. The event will take place this Saturday, Novemeber 2nd, and it’s an open invitation event where gamers can participate in tournaments for Halo 5: Guardians, Apex Legends, Fifa 20 and Marvel Vs. Capcom. There will be many other games on hand for those who just want to play games and don’t want to participate in the tournaments, and best of all, there will be cakes!
In the interview, Annabel even shares a little about her personal life, including her gaming preferences and how she juggles all of her Melanin Gaming work despite having Sickle Cell Anemia, a chronic illness.
