Knights of the Turntable #14: Hip Hop vs. Racism & 2014 Hip Hop Awards

Welcome to the first Knights of the Turntable of 2015. Though it’s the New Year, it’s getting a little tedious to keep acknowledging it. So for this episode, each member was forced to drink a shot every time they said the phrase New Year New Me. Our main topic this week is centered on the racial debate, which includes Macklemore and Lord Jamar. We cover the Macklemore interview on Hot97 and share our thoughts.

It’s a sensitive issue but one that needs to be addressed as Hip Hop becomes more diverse. We’re seeing artists like Macklemore, Iggy Azalea and Mac Miller create their own lanes under the Hip Hop umbrella. Let us know your stance on the topic after you hear our discussion.
