Back in November, we reported that Sega was working on a remastered version of Valkyria Chronicles. At the time, the game was set to be released only in Japan, though we knew a Western release would be inevitable. Today, Sega has confirmed that the game will indeed be coming to North America and Europe this Spring.
The game will be available both physically and digitally for $29.99. Those that pre-order a physical copy will get the game in a special Squad 7 armored case. There will be a limited number of launch edition retail copies that come in the steel case as well for those who didn’t pre-order.
Valkyria Chronicles is one of the greatest but most overlooked RPGs released in the last 10 years. Hopefully it being on the PlayStation 4 will bring it a whole new audience. With luck, this will push Sega to release remastered versions of the PSP-only Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3. Getting the third game released in the West would be a big boon considering it was never localized in the West.
In addition to the main game, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered will have all of the previously released DLC. This includes Hard EX Mode, Edy’s Mission, Selvaria’s Mission, and Challenge of the Edy Detachment.
We don’t have a concrete date on when Valkyria Chronicles HD will be released so stay tuned for that.
