As you may have read earlier, Nintendo are set to dramatically reduce the price of the 3DS. For obvious reasons such a significant price drop will anger many current 3DS owners so in an attempt to fan the impending flames Nintendo will be offering 20 free games to everyone who purchases a 3DS and connects to the eShop (at least once) before the systems August 12th price drop.
Those who follow the steps above will be automatically enrolled into a Nintendo 3DS Ambassadors program entitling them to 10 free NES games and a further 10 free GBA games before they are made available to the general public.
These games include;
NES (starting Sept. 1st)
- Super Mario Bros.
- Donkey Kong Jr.
- Balloon Fight
- Ice Climber
- The Legend of Zelda
GBA (starting later this year)
- Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3
- Mario Kart: Super Circuit
- Metroid Fusion
- WarioWare™, Inc.: Mega Microgame$
- Mario vs. Donkey Kong
There are many classic games featured on that partial list, certainly enough to make me thankful that I’m an early adopter.
Nintendo claims they have no plans to make any of those GBA games available to non-ambassadors but time will tell if that holds true.
