It’s all over, folks! The Kickstarter campaign for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has come to a close and has earned an astonishing $5.5 million in pledges.
The campaign, which was started in May, got nearly 65,000 backers behind it and has managed to become the most funded video game on Kickstarter. The game made $2.5 million in its first two days alone and in the end, managed to meet a plethora of its stretch goals.
Bloodstained‘s producer, Koji Igarashi, who was the man behind many Castlevania games including the classic Symphony of the Night, set out to create a game that was in the (now dubbed) ‘Igavania’ style. The runaway success of Bloodstained speaks to people’s demand for an old-school style Castlevania game.
Bloodstained is set to be released on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U in 2017.
