Overwatch: Tips For Using Every Character

Tips for getting better with Genji

Genji

Role: Offense
Summary: Genji is a cyborg ninja who has freed himself from his criminal past. Genji can throw deadly Shurikens at his targets. He also uses his wakizashi to deflect projectiles or delivers a Swift Strike with his technologically-advanced katana. Genji is one of the most difficult characters to master in Overwatch and may take hours of practice to get to grips with.

Genji Tips

  • Keep jumping as much as possible. This makes your enemies have to work harder to aim, putting inexperienced players at a disadvantage
  • When your opponents have a Bastion or Turret set up, it will typically be your responsibility to take them out using Deflect. Torbjorn’s turret lacks the knowledge to stop firing when you use Deflect, but a trained Bastion player will know to stop shooting when he sees you use it. Think on your feet and use your speed to get the better of Bastion
  • Genji’s Swift Strike can often take out a Pharah with low health that is flying nearby. Remember also that Swift Strike resets instantly after a kill, allowing you to unleash it sequentially
  • Genji’s mobility and disruptive abilities make him ideal for taking out support characters without Tanks and Offense characters noticing
  • It’s essential to use Swift Strike with Genji’s Ult Dragonblade to get the best out of it before it runs out
