Symmetra
Role: Support / Builder
Summary: Symmetra uses her skills as an architect to build a better world. In-game, she uses a light-bending Photon Projector to dispatch adversaries, shield her associates, construct teleportation pads and deploy particle-blasting Sentry Turrets.
Symmetra Tips
- Symmetra’s Photon Projector auto targets the closest enemy so when attacking don’t just stand still in front of the enemy. Use the auto target to your advantage and strafe side-to-side or jump to make yourself harder to hit as you deplete your enemy’s health
- Symmetra’s shield can be useful as a temporary replacement when Reinhardt’s Barrier Field goes down
- Try to place turrets apart from one another so that they aren’t easily wiped out from an AOE attack. Also try not to place them in places that are easy to spot. Place them in the corners of ceilings or above entrances where the enemies aren’t likely to be looking out for them
- Energy Balls are slow and easy to doge at a distance. But when used in close combat situations they are as deadly as a shotgun
Using Teleporter / Shield Generator
- Keep in mind that in Payload matches where you’re on defense, it may be more practical to place a Shield Generator than a Teleporter as the action will be on the move and may alter the usefulness of the Teleporter
- When placing a Teleporter, keep an eye on the number just to the right of your Ultimate charge as that shows how many times the Teleporter can be used. If using a microphone, let your team know how many spawns are left as they may want to prioritize which characters get to use it
- Deciding between a Teleporter and Shield Generator can be situational, so try and ask your team which one they would prefer in the current situation. As a general rule of thumb, it’s more practical to use a Teleporter when the point of battle is at a far distance from the spawn. If the action is fairly close to the spawn room then a Shield Generator would be more useful
