On April 25th, the next installment in Red Barrels’ successful first-person survival horror video game series will finally debut on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Outlast 2 aims to raise the bar even further than its predecessor with a new protagonist, a storyline with ties connected to the first game and a new desert setting filled with horrifying inhabitants and obstacles.
One of the main components that made the first title great lies within the musical score created by Samuel Laflamme. This award-winning composer had the pleasure of creating music The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Tiny Brains, Ápres la Peine, and several other noteworthy Canadian TV shows and independent films.
Recently, I had an opportunity to have a candid one-on-one conversation with Samuel to discuss his overall experience creating a horror-themed soundtrack. In addition to answering questions about Outlast and Outlast 2, he also gives great career advice for every aspiring video game and movie composer out there.
