Yo, Silent Hills, why you gotta be scary though? Seriously man, this Tokyo Game Show concept trailer from for the next installment in the Silent Hill series is just as frightening as the P.T demo which was released back during Gamescom. This trailer is all CG and not actual game footage but it shows us exactly what to expect from the main game.
I think it’s safe to say that the entire game will be in first person, which is a deviation from the usual third person of the Silent Hill franchise. We see the protagonist (played by The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus) going through hallways which are filled with all manner of horrible and scary things. The laws of physics seem to have taken a vacation here as things just materialize out of nowhere. Obviously this is all done for scares but it works to convey a sense of terror.
This game is being produced by Hideo Kojima and film director Guillermo del Toro. The two want to make a game that will make players “shit their pants.” They said that they don’t care if people can’t finish it due to how scary it is, they wanted to make the most fear inducing game possible and thanks to the power of the FOX Engine, it looks like they will deliver on that promise.
No release date for Silent Hills but when we find out, we’ll let you know.
