It was only yesterday that we found out about the NPD Group’s plan to keep the software and hardware numbers private. Today is marks the first day of the new NPD top 10, where we still get to see an order of the highest t selling game and the 10 highest selling game.
It’s no surprise that Halo: reach takes the number one spot selling 3.3 million units, the only reason we know the unit sales is probably because Microsoft wanted us to know. Halo: reach outsold ODST (expansion) and sold just about evenly with Halo 3, which also sold 3.3 million units on Sept. 2007. Dead Rising 2 made its presence known by coming in at number 3, unfortunately NPD will also not be informing us which console version of the game it was. In the 6th spot is Kingdom Hearts: birth By SLeep on the PSP. This is very surprising considering Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker didn’t even manage to crack the top 20. Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions didn’t go unnoticed and cracked the top 10 at number 8.
If you’re wondering about hardware sales, NPD doesn’t release that info nor does it tell us who won the month. Although the Xbox 360 sales were released, and it sold 483,989 Units (up 37% Year to year). So for the 4th month in a row, Xbox 360 takes the crown, not a bad way to enter the holiday season with. All the other consoles are down year to year.
