During this year’s Tokyo Games Show, Square Enix revealed an extended trailer for their highly anticipated Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII video game.
The video above features narration by Lightning and has a combination of both gameplay footage and cinematic cutscenes throughout. The tone of this trailer succeeds in matching the large scale narrative goals that had been set by the game’s creative team early on.
After getting a look at this extended trailer coming out of TGS, I can easily see why Lightning Returns is one of next year’s most anticipated Final Fantasy releases. Knowing that Final Fantasy XV could take literally several years before it hits stores, it’s good to see that Square Enix will have at least one new Final Fantasy game to hold fans over until then. However, one must wonder if it’s ever possible that we will see a version of Lighting Returns on the PS4. I would argue that it’s most certainly possible for Square Enix to make this happen should fans show enough demand for it.
