Ryse DLC Brings Five New Maps and Survival Mode To The Arena

Microsoft today announced new DLC called ‘Mars’ Chosen Pack’ for Ryse: Son of Rome, the pack contains five new packs and a new co-op game mode.

The new game mode is called Survivor, which is a wave based co-op mode. Take a look at Xbox’s description of the mode:

“There is only one objective: battle alongside a fellow gladiator against endless waves of barbarians as your health gradually drains. The only way to regain health and keep death at bay is with quick kills and brutal executions, but the longer you survive, earning more gold and experience with each wave successfully cleared, the faster your health depletes.”

In addition to describing the mode, the post over on Xbox Wire spoke to Senior Producer Justin Robey, who had this to say about Survivor:

“The best part yet is how we approached building the maps for Survivor mode, each map makes it a distinctly different experience. Firestorm is all about tight corridors and creating choke points to keep you from getting swarmed, while Dockyard has wide open spaces with indestructible catapults raining projectiles down on you. What is even more exciting are some of the additional Survivor mode maps that will be coming in future add-ons, which take this new gameplay mode even further.”

The new Survivor mode sounds cool, the introduction of having having your health gradually drain unless you get kills brings a unique twist to the normally predictable Horde-style mode. It is great that the game is still being supported with new DLC, the post even says that there will be more maps available for Survivor in the future.

Mar’s Chosen Pack costs $8.99 or is free if you have the Ryse Season Pass.
