Today, CD Projekt RED confirmed via an open letter that they have decided to delay the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt until February of 2015. Prior to this announcement, the highly anticipated open world action RPG was originally scheduled to launch sometime later this year.
The studio stated within the letter that they wanted to maintain the high level of quality that their games are usually known for, and that more time will be needed to achieve that goal. They then emphasized that the decision to delay the game was a difficult one, but that it would ultimately payoff in the end. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is expected to be the final entry in Geralt of Rivia’s storyline.
While today’s news may be troubling for some, the fact of the matter is that fans will greatly appreciate the finished product even more now because of this extra time that the studio is spending on it. Other games such as Dragon Age: Inquisition and Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor should be more than enough to keep gamers busy until next year.
