Earlier today, Sony Pictures released a report on the Hollywood Reporter confirming that an Uncharted feature film will hit theaters everywhere on June 10, 2016. This date was originally set for the worldwide release of The Amazing Spider-Man 3, but was later replaced by Uncharted and delayed until 2018.
The screenplay is being written by David Guggenheim, while the film will be produced by Arad/Atlus Entertainment and directed by Seth Gordon. Interestingly enough, the lead role of Nathan Drake is still up for grabs and Sony has yet to formally announce if this movie will have a new storyline or just remain an adaptation from any one of the previously released games.
It’s a well known fact that video game related movies often turn out horrible and leave diehard fans of a series both disappointed and confused. Given the popularity of the Uncharted franchise, I can only hope that the studio succeeds in making a film that is worthy of being on par with the video games.
Are any of you looking forward to the Uncharted film? Who do you think should play Nathan Drake? Please feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
