Earlier today, Deadline TV Editor Nellie Andreeva revealed that Xbox Entertainment Studios is currently producing a comedy series inspired by the life and times of Queensbridge rapper and hip-hop icon Nas.
The half-hour series is titled Street Dreams and will be loosely based on Nas’ experience as an up-and-coming rapper during the 1990’s. The show will take place in the Queensbridge neighborhood of Queens, New York and is being written and directed by Warm Bodies director Jonathan Levine. Xbox Entertainment Studios was originally formed in Los Angeles last year as a means of creating original programming for the Xbox brand. There are currently no more details available on the show, but we can expect to hear more about it in the coming months ahead.
As a fan of Nas, I found this news to be both interesting and exciting as a whole. While the show is expected to be mostly comedic, I’m hopeful that the director will at least make the attempt to explore the hardships one may face while trying to come up in the industry. Then and only then would the audience truly gain a deeper understanding of what it actually means to achieve success within this field.
Do any of you plan on watching this show once it comes to the Xbox One? Please feel free to let me know in the comments section below.
