/// Guillermo del Toro on Silent Hills Cancellation: “Makes No Sense at All”!

Speaking with Bloody-Disgusting, del Toro talked a bit about what it was like to work on the horror game, as well as his confusion over it being cancelled.

It was curious. We had a great experience and had great story sessions with hundreds upon hundreds of designs. Some of the stuff that we were designing for Silent Hills I’ve seen in games that came after, like The Last of Us, which makes me think we were not wrong, we were going in the right direction.

The thing with Kojima and Silent Hills is that I thought we would do a really remarkable game and really go for the jugular. We were hoping to actually create some sort of panic with some of the devices we were talking about and it is really a shame that it’s not happening. When you ask about how things operate, that makes no sense at all that that game is not happening.

Makes no sense at all. That’s the randomness that I was talking about.

/// Supermassive Games Comments on Sony’s Lack of Marketing Push for Until Dawn!

Speaking to Supermassive Games’ Executive Producer Pete Samuels, PSLS asked him what his thoughts were on Sony’s marketing push for Until Dawn, and whether they felt it wasn’t being marketed as heavily as it should have been for an exclusive first-party title.

PlayStation LifeStyle: Leading up to release, what were your thoughts on Sony’s marketing for the game — a question we asked Shuhei Yoshida as well. Did Supermassive feel that it wasn’t being marketed as heavily as other first-party exclusives?

If a game is quite different to what’s come before, it must be difficult to know exactly what to do, who to aim the marketing at, and what the message should be. Even if the strength of the push wasn’t as big as we’d have liked, there was a huge amount of creativity in the way that Sony promoted Until Dawn.

/// Bloodborne Game of the Year Edition launches on November 25!

Bloodborne Game of the Year Edition launches on PlayStation 4 from 25th November 2015. If you haven’t yet mustered the courage to venture into Yharnam’s dank, treacherous streets, this is the perfect opportunity to get involved, packaging together From Software’s critically acclaimed action RPG and the incoming DLC story expansion, The Old Hunters.

As detailed last month, The Old Hunters challenges players to explore entirely new environments, including a monolithic clock tower, filled with Bloodborne’s traditional blend of risk, reward and frightening boss encounters.

In addition to new environments, you’ll also gain access to new outfits and weapons to bolster your beast-battling arsenal, including a fearsome new ranged weapon called Simon’s Bowblade. On top of this, The Old Hunters also offers players the ability to go native and transform into terrifying beasts.
