One of the great things about Destiny is how it fosters a sense of camaraderie among strangers who have to work together to take down large groups of enemies. While the co-op aspect is a big and central feature of the game, that isn’t the only way that players can interact with each other. This is a Bungie game and as such, features a robust competitive side for those who just want to shoot the crap out of each other.
From the YouTube description:
Enter the Crucible to hone your skills against other Guardians in competitive multiplayer arenas that span the solar system. As you engage in multiplayer combat, victory will earn you special armor, weapons, and gear that you can take with you into every single mode of play.
What stood out to me were all of the different locales. Coming off the beta which featured only two Crucible locations, it’s nice to see so many different worlds. There are also a lot of modes in the final game as well which should give this competitive mode a lot of longevity for gamers. The fact that this mode will earn players rewards that they can carry over into the main portion of the game should be a good incentive to those who don’t typically like to play competitive game modes.
Destiny will be released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 9.
