One of my predictions for Microsoft’s E3 briefing was that they would announced the HBO Go video-on-demand service on Xbox Live. No announcement was made then, but it has now. HBO is bringing their HBO Go service to home consoles and connected TV’s.
HBO subscribers will get a chance to watch the latest HBO shows like ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Boardwalk Empire’; as well as old classic like ‘The Wire’ and ‘The Sopranos’ on demand and on home consoles. No specific consoles were mentioned but it’s safe to assume that they mean all three current consoles, especially after reports of Netflix being used on consoles more than any other platform.
HBO Go is available now as an app on multiple media devices, and requires an HBO subscription. I’m hoping HBO announces an HBO Go only subscription. I would really like to have this on my console but not so much on my TV, for various personal reasons.
