The promo kicks off with Crackdown becoming available to Xbox Live Gold subscribers as early as tomorrow. Then on August 16th, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero will also be made available to download for free. As of this writing, there is no official word on if Dead Rising 2: Case West will be a part of this promotion but at the very least we can expect some type of price drop around the same time.
As someone who openly criticized last month’s games with gold offering, I’ll be the first to admit now that Microsoft is starting to show some signs of improvement. I have always had the belief that if Microsoft wanted to compete with Sony’s PlayStation Plus program then they absolutely could do so at any given time. Of course, Microsoft is known to be a very greedy and stubborn company overall and therefore I don’t expect them to fully engage games with gold like they should. Given that this program is still in it’s early stages, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt but only slightly.
What do you think of this promotion? Do you think Games with Gold will ever compete with PlayStation Plus? Feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.
