Below Revealed As An Xbox One Timed Exclusive

CAPY Games today clarified that their upcoming roguelike game Below is in fact a timed Xbox One exclusive and will be coming to other platforms at a later date.

The team confirmed this in a post on their website:

“Like many games on [Microsoft’s] stage at E3, Below will be available on the Xbox One first. Then, after a period of time, CAPY can bring it elsewhere. It’s always been this way,”

“We’ve said it many times before, but it is worth repeating: working with Microsoft Studios has been great, and they deserve real kudos for putting our dreamy roguelike-inspired game of exploration and discovery in the spotlight at E3, and we are certain they’ll continue to do more of that going forward.

“This clarification is about answering our fans, and shouldn’t reflect negatively on Microsoft or Xbox One – they’ve been the biggest CAPY supporters out there. The Xbox 360 has been a great home for marquee downloadable games, and we believe this is something that will continue, and grow, over the years on Xbox One.”

Below was announced at the Microsoft Press Conference which led a lot of people to believe that it was an Xbox One exclusive, additionally the game utilises Kinect controls which further confused people. It is very common for Sony and Microsoft to make deals with companies to reveal their games at their press conferences and not their competitors, even though the game is coming for both platforms. This led many to believe that Kingdom Hearts 3 was a Sony exclusive and that MGS5 was only on the Xbox One.

Unfortunately we don’t know when Below is coming to the Xbox One, so I’m afraid your guess is as good as mine. Let’s just be thankful that it is coming to more platforms eventually.
