Ever since the Game Informer reveal way back in November of 2012, news on GTA V has been pretty scarce in most media outlets. Rockstar gave details of a release date to get the internet buzzing about the next installment in the wildly popular Grand theft Auto series. Now after months of waiting, Rockstar has finally unveiled the first official gameplay trailers for GTA V.
After taking a look at the second trailer that also surfaced back in November, I’m definitely hyped by what Rockstar has shown off today. The video above not only gives us a preview of what to expect from the game, but also gives an in-depth analysis into just how fun it will be to play as Michael, Franklin, and Trevor once the game drops this September. However, the one nagging question that I can’t help but ask though is where is the gameplay footage? These trailers were being billed as gameplay videos and I’m not entirely convinced that they are nothing more then cinematic sequences. In the end, I could be wrong but until I get the official word I’ll still be questioning this concept.
Now that 2k Games has revealed that they won’t have a booth at E3, I do believe that the decision to release these GTA V trailers was a smart move. Of course, Rockstar doesn’t need E3 press anyway to sell this game, but it still was a nice treat for fans. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the official boxart for GTA V, then feel free to have a look below.
GTA V launches worldwide on the Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on September 17th. Were you impressed by the trailers? Do you consider them gameplay videos or cinematics? Feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
