We’ll Have To Wait Longer for Kingdom Hearts 3

Square Enix recently announced Kingdom Hearts 3; however, they have only progressed a little. The reason for this is simple: Tetsuya Nomura  is also busy directing Final Fantasy XV.

IGN recently spoke with Kingdom Hearts 3 producer Shinji Hashimoto about the game’s status report. According to Hashimoto, “So at E3 this year we announced Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV. Both have Tetsuya Nomura as their director, so we can’t create these two big games at the same time.”

This isn’t the first time something like this happens. Square Enix seems to make a habit of announcing tons of new games before they’ve made significant progress. I do understand their rationale; Nomura must be stressed just trying to balance the two games. But I wonder if Square Enix could have better managed their projects.

Still, Hashimoto explained that they didn’t want to keep their fans waiting. “A lot of people have wondered for the last couple of years if Square Enix has actually been working on Kingdom Hearts III; that’s why we announced it at E3 this year. But please, we need you all to understand that there’s a lot to do,” said Hashimoto.

That’s understandable, as fans clamored for Kingdom Hearts 3 almost, if not just as much, as some do for Half-Life 3. Still, I hope Square Enix waits to announce their games after they’ve made significant progress in the future; otherwise, it makes the wait seem much longer.
