5 Things We Want From Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

While Hideo Kojima and his production team are busy working on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain we have The Metal Gear Solid Legacy collection to look forward to. The legacy collection is ideal for those who either wish to experience Metal Gear Solid from its roots to its current state or those who are simply just huge fans of the series and wish to own it all in one collection.

Once you own the legacy collection, the only thing left is Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. We’re still a long way away from owning the game, and we still don’t even know all there is to know about it. As someone who holds the Metal Gear Solid series in high regard I decided to compile a list of some things I would like to see in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phatnom Pain. Be sure to leave a comment with some of your own suggestions.

Metal Gear Solid V Wishlist

Crafting.

After seeing how other games such as The Last of Us use crafting, I would like to see something similar implemented in Metal Gear Solid V. Considering the fact it’s going to be more open this time around I would assume collecting resources will become a huge part of the game. With this in mind, I believe collecting crafting items would add to the open world experience as it would force you to fully explore every inch of the world in search for items to help you during the sneaking missions. I think it’s much more rewarding to disperse a smoke bomb that you created yourself, than one you found ready made. Crafting will also make your supplies more limited, which will force gamers to make better decisions when approaching a situation.

Bring back the Cure menu.

Metal Gear Solid 3 is often referred to as the best game in the series, and I can understand why so many favor it. One of the great additions to Metal Gear Solid 3 was definitely the Cure mode, allowing players to nurse (Naked) Snake’s injuries. It was one of those things that helped add to the feeling of self reliance in the game, along with the need to keep Snake fed. I think adding the Cure mode back to Metal Gear Solid V along with the crafting system would significantly add to the immersion of Big Boss being a well disciplined self-reliant spy.

Revamped Metal Gear Online.

While there were those who enjoyed Metal Gear Online, the majority hated it. I think the main issue with Metal Gear Online was its difficulty to master and Konami’s annoying online requirements. With that being said, I believe Metal Gear Solid V presents the perfect opportunity for Kojima to present us with a fully revamped Metal Gear Online game that everybody will enjoy. Heck they could even one up Titanfall and include Metal Gears on the battlefield, and allow players to jump in and out at will. I see huge potential if they decide to do this.

More Metal Gear battles.

One thing I believe many Metal Gear Solid games lack, is actual Metal Gear battles. Sure, they always do a fantastic job building up to the battles, but they’re always so fun that I find myself wishing it was a regular occurrence. Due to the nature of Metal Gear Solid V’s timeline, this may not be possible from a storyline point of view but I’m sure they will have some sort of equivalent to Metal Gear Rex and Ray.

An appearance from young Solid Snake (voiced by David Hayter)?

Yes, I still have my fingers crossed that David Hayter will actually be in the game. The reason I believe this so strongly is because the timeline could possibly fit depending on how far the game stretches. There has been a lot of confusion over the Metal Gear Solid V timeline, and I believe Hideo is planning a huge twist, like possibly revealing a fourth Big Boss clone. Either way, I am still under the belief that we will either see a young Solid Snake voiced by David Hayter, or the speculated fourth clone of big boss (voiced by David Hayter). There definitely has to be some major twist in Metal Gear Solid V, because I doubt Hideo Kojima would purposely create plot-holes in his brilliantly pieced Metal Gear timeline.
