Today, Microsoft confirmed via their blog that Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution, and Dungeon Defenders will both be available for free during the March “Games With Gold” promotion.
The promo kicks off with Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution which will be available for download to all Xbox Live Gold subscribers from March 1st to March 15th. This popular Turn-based strategy series revolves around players waging war against each other as some of the most influential rules in american history. This game was easily appeal to fans who like both history and strategy games that encourage thinking before acting.
On March 16th, the promo will continue with Dungeon Defenders taking over as the free game for the rest of the month. This Tower defense/ Action RPG allows players to take on the roles of wizards and warriors as they fend off against hordes of monsters.
Once again, this month’s Games With Gold offerings are highly disappointing when compared to the January promotion. While both games will appeal to strategy game fans, the fact of the matter is that there are plenty of other strategy games out there that could have easily been included in this promotion. I still believe that Microsoft is still holding back on this service and thus I will keep my expectations low until they give me a good reason not to.
