4. Liara T’Soni
There’s something special about Liara, and I can’t quite put my finger on what it is. Is it perhaps her soft, loving personality? Is it her naiveness towards human culture? Is it her extreme amount of knowledge? Is it her love for Protheans, and the pre-historic past? Is it being voiced by the lovely Ali Hillis? Maybe it’s just all of those things. Liara, much like Kaidan, loves Shepard. Whether or not you choose to romance Liara, it is very prominent she loves Shepard, and always will.
Shepard and Liara will always be connected, since Liara helped Shepard view his/her Prothean beacon vision. It opened a whole new box for Liara, helping her learn more about the culture. Taking her on the From Ashes mission to open Javik’s cryosleep casket, and future dialog between the two remains to be one of my favorite character relationships in the series. Being at Shepard’s side and secretly being the Shadow Broker at the same time truly shows Liara’s capabilities as a person [of Asari ethnicity]. There isn’t anything Liara can’t do.
As a squad member: I always loved Liara as a squad member. In the first game, since she wasn’t capable of any weapons training, it was a bit challenging, but in Lair of the Shadow Broker and Mass Effect 3, I used her as much as I could.
