Last week saw the release of the highly anticipated Star Wars Battlefront on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Though it was released on three different platforms, more people are playing it on the PS4 than on the other two machines combined according to a third party site.
This information comes to us from a NeoGAF user who made this discovery while visiting the Battlefield Player Stats Network, which tracks server figures for EA games. Over the last 24 hours, the number of people playing Star Wars Battlefront concurrently peaked at 331,640 (as of the time of this writing). That’s 179,511 users on the PlayStation 4, 110,704 on the Xbox One, and 41,425 on the PC.
Again, these numbers aren’t estimates but come directly from EA’s servers. This is possible because EA offers an open API to Battlelog.
Given the exclusivity deal Sony and EA have with Star Wars Battlefront, not to mention the higher install base of the PS4, it makes sense that the console would see more users playing the game on it than on other platforms. This obviously doesn’t tell us anything about how well the game is selling since EA hasn’t released any official sales numbers (or any numbers), but it’s still interesting to see how users are interacting with the game and on what platform(s) they’re playing on.
