Earlier today, CD Projekt Red announced in a press release that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will be handling distribution and promotion of their upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 video game in North America. Below is an official statement from CD Projekt Red’s Member of the Board and SVP of Business Development Michael Nowakowski regarding this ongoing collaboration.
“We’ve worked with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and both releases turned out to be really successful, so we’re entering this new stage of our cooperation with great confidence. Cyberpunk 2077 is our biggest and most ambitious project to date, and I’m really looking forward to all the amazing things we can achieve together.”
Cyberpunk 2077 has been described as a narrative-driven open-world RPG set within the same universe as the 1988 pen and paper RPG titled Cyberpunk 2020. Players take on the role of a mercenary named V are tasked with exploring the dangerous cyber-enhanced world of Night City, California. While CD Projekt Red hasn’t announced a confirmed release date for this game yet, it has been widely speculated that it will launch worldwide in 2019.
