Though Frogwares has been developing adventure games focused on Sherlock Holmes since 2002, 2012’s The Testament of Sherlock Holmes and 2014’s Crime & Punishments have advanced the formula and reeled in a loyal fanbase with gameplay efficiently reflecting Sherlock’s skillset through mini games, action, and drama. Detective Holmes’ intent inspection, incredible awareness, and unique draw of criminal activity fit snuggly into the adventure/mystery genre and the team at Frogwares continue to shape their corner of the industry with the upcoming Devil’s Daughter.
In this next chapter, Sherlock encounters the potentially occult and must weigh the logical vs the mystic in a dark story surrounding a young lady that comes to 221B Baker Street. The new gameplay trailer hints at quite a few twists and turns as Holmes is pushed to his physical and mental limits.
Frogwares last Sherlock Holmes game, Crime & Punishment, was mostly received well by critics (sits at a 77 on Metacritic) and hopefully the team will have ironed out any issues as they move forward in Sherlock’s story.
