Fez 2 Officially Cancelled By Polytron

Earlier this afternoon, Phil Fish and the Polytron team confirmed via Twitter that Fez 2 has officially been cancelled. While there was no reason given for the abrupt cancellation of the game, many will speculate that perhaps the studio just wants to try making something new and different instead. The full message can be seen embedded below:

This announcement comes a little over a month after the game received a teaser announcement trailer during E3 2013. The brief, but interesting video can be seen at the very top of this post.

Earlier this year, Phil had announced that the original Fez would be coming to all platforms and that he was excited that more people would finally be able to play his game. He also openly expressed his disgust for having worked with Microsoft in the past and laughed when the studio changed up their recent policies. After hearing today’s news, one can only ponder what Fish’s next project will ultimately be. Whatever that game may end up being, hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to finally get our hands on it.

Are you a fan of the original Fez? Are you disappointed to hear that there won’t be a sequel? Feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
