Respawn Entertainment’s co-founder Jason West has officially departed from the company, Respawn boss Vince Zampella has today confirmed.
Over the past few days rumors have been spreading that former Infinity Ward boss and Respawn Entertainment co-founder Jason West has left the company, today Vince Zampella who famously left Infinity Ward with West confirmed his departure and explained the reasons behind it.
Zampella wrote Respawn’s website, “Jason has left Respawn to take care of some family issues, we have worked together on some amazing accomplishments over the years, starting with an early Segasoft project that never shipped. It is sad to see things come to an end, but there are times when change is best for growth, both personally and professionally.”
“I wish Jason the best and send my best wishes to his family. Respawn continues to amaze me, the team here is resilient and talented.” Vince continued, “E3 will be therapeutic for us, as we finally get to start showing our work again. I know the team was excited about the response we got from just admitting we were going to attend.”
Hopefully the departure of West does not have a negative affect on the development of Respawn’s game, which I am very much looking forward to seeing at E3 considering most of the team at Respawn developed the incredible Call of Duty 4, a game which revolutionized modern multiplayer. I guess we’ll have to wait and find out.
Let me know in the comments what you’re hoping Respawn’s new game will be like. I’m guessing it’ll still involve shooting guns at people in a modern military setting, but lets hope they surprise me.
