Today, 2K Sports sent us over the latest gameplay trailer from their upcoming WWE 2K14 video game.
The video above serves as a montage of both gameplay footage and cinematic cutscenes that can be found throughout the various game modes and match types. If you’ve ever played WWE 13, then you’ll notice right away that this game looks essentially the same with only a slight few tweaks in gameplay performance and roster adjustments. Given that this game was being developed while THQ was falling apart, it’s easy to conclude that 2K hasn’t yet put their signature touch on it yet.
The more recent WWE video games have always been criticized for their constant practice of adding new features only to remove them later. Many sports games are guilty of this as well with the most recent culprits being Madden NFL 25 and FIFA 14. I would still argue that the GM Mode featured in the earlier Smackdown Vs Raw games is above and beyond the WWE Universe mode. In addition to this, many people are annoyed with Yukes development process and have been asking for this franchise to be improved upon for several years now. Perhaps 2K can make things better over the next few years and get to the root of these problems.
WWE 2K14 is slated to release on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this month. Did this trailer convince you to give WWE 2K14 a shot? Feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
