PlayStation 4 Has Now Sold Over 6 Million Units Worldwide

Sony today announced that sales of the PlayStation 4 have now reached over 6 million, thanks to the help of last weeks Japan launch.

The announcement was made over at the official PlayStation Blog, the blog post also gives some stats about the PS4’s broadcasting system and share feature:

“Cumulative PS4 sales have now surpassed six million units worldwide following the successful launch in Japan just over a week ago. There have now been more than 3.6 million live broadcasts, and more than 56 million spectate sessions on PS4 through Twitch and Ustream. PS4 owners are also embracing the Share button on the DUALSHOCK 4 Wireless Controller, with more than 100 million shares captured as fans show friends their latest achievements on Facebook and Twitter.”

This is fantastic news for the PS4, so far it seems to be dominating in sales compared to the Xbox One (who haven’t revealed sales numbers in over a month). Sony is clearly being rewarded for their openness in regards to their original used games stance and they fully deserve it. Hopefully they can now start to release some big titles to cement their lead at the top!

Let me know in the comments if you think Sony deserve to be winning so far, do you think the lower price was the biggest factor or the fact that were extremely open about how the PS4 worked?
