During EVO 2015, Capcom revealed their awesome DLC plans for Street Fighter V. According to a post on the official Capcom Unity website, fans can expect a new service-based approach that emphasizes the following:
- The initial release is the only disc you will ever need to own
- All balance and system adjustments will be available for free
- All post-launch gameplay related content will be earnable for free by playing the game
Capcom also confirmed that Street Fighter V will launch with 16 playable characters, four of which will be entirely new to the series. It is currently unclear how big the final roster will be once all of the post-launch content is released, but we can expect to hear more about that at a later time.
I personally think that this new content strategy by Capcom is fabulous and a lot of fighting game developers could learn a thing or two about approaching DLC from this angle. The Street Fighter V beta takes place next week exclusively on the PlayStation 4.
