Jodie Turner-Smith Joins Sex Education Season Four

Jodie Turner-Smith has joined the cast of hit Netflix series Sex Education after being asked by Ncuti Gatwa to join the show. Stating, “You may or may not see me in a little Netflix show called Sex Education,” she told reporters.

“First of all, all my scenes were with Ncuti Gatwa who – I DIE for him – and he’s my favorite character on the show,” she continued. “So, when he called me and asked me to do it, I was like, I don’t care how much they’re paying I’m doing.”

Turner-Smith will be among a host of new characters joining the fourth season of the series alongside Schitt’s Creek’s star Dan Levy, Thaddea Graham, Marie Reuther, Felix Mufti, Anthony Lexa, Alexandra James and Imani Yahshua.

Season Four of the show, which features Gillian Anderson as a sex therapist and mother to an awkward teenager (played by Asa Butterfield), began shooting last summer but have not released an official release date as of yet.

Gatwa is returning for a fourth season despite being cast as Doctor Who in the popular BBC sci-fi series and landing a role in Margot Robbie’s upcoming Barbie film.

Unfortunately, Simone Ashley, who played Olivia, Tanya Reynolds (Lily), Patricia Allison (Ola) and Rakhee Thakrar (schoolteacher Emily Sands) will not be returning.

According to PEOPLE, Emma Mackey stated, “[Will I be back for] season 5 or 6? Bloody hell, I’ve just finished the fourth one, love — last week! No, I don’t think so. I think, yeah, I’ve said goodbye to Maeve. It’s a happy goodbye.”

“You know, we’re playing 17-year-olds, and we’re all almost 30, it is a bit weird… be happy that it exists and protect it and enjoy it in the time that it has existed in, but yeah, it needs to be left alone now I think.”
