The Elder Scrolls series is probably one of the biggest and most popular in the entire RPG genre. It has been around for years spawning multiple games on multiple platforms and tons of expansions and other content. In short: it is a force to be reckoned with. Much like the dragons that will finally be soaring onto the scene in the latest entry in this storied franchise: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The game takes place in one of the northernmost provinces in the land of Tamriel, Skyrim, which is known for its mountains, rugged-nature and now its dragons. The game will pick up roughly 200-years after the event of the last game in the series, Oblivion, during a time that civil strife is high and dragons are among the people.
As the main character you play as the last of the dragon-born who have a special gift: they can speak the dragon language. This gives your character the power needed to stop the dragon uprising and hopefully return order to Tamriel. There are many advancements and changes in gameplay that have RPG fans and gamers in general clamoring for a chance to play this one with many people expecting it to be in the running for game of the year (and it doesn’t even come out for another half of a year!) With the game looking so polished already, one can only assume what other surprised Bethesda has in store for us as we wait.
Recently at Bethesda’s BFG press even they screened a hands-off demo of the game. For details on the demo you can check out Joystiq and Gamepro’s impressions, but as for the pics, you can see them down below. Skyrim will be releasing this fall on November 11th, 2011 (11/11/11) on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360!
