A Visual Comparison of The Wind Waker HD vs The Gamecube Original

Written by on

With the release of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD right around the corner, the lovely folks at GameXplain have provided a fantastic comparison of the visual differences between the new HD version and the original Gamecube one.

As you can see from the video above there has been a lot of improvements in The Wind Waker HD, the textures are a lot clearer and the view distance has been increased. There appears to be lots of subtle differences in the boss designs and I must say that the lighting is now absolutely beautiful. One complaint is that the game seems less colorful now, the colors seems washed out when compared to the original but I think that the new textures, 1080p resolution and amazing lighting more than make up for that.

All you really need to see as proof of how good the new Wind Waker looks is the screenshot below:

Please let me know in the comments what you think about the differences in quality and whether you think it will be worth re-purchasing on the Wii U.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD releases digitally on the Wii U in NA on September 20, with physical copies available on October 4 in NA and EU.
