Destiny Release Date Confirmed

Earlier today, Bungie confirmed the official release date for their highly anticipated Destiny video game.

According a post made on Bungie.net, Destiny is now slated to launch worldwide on September 9th for the PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and Xbox One. Customers who have preordered the game will be able to gain early access to both the Ps4 and PS3 beta versions at some point and time during the summer. The Beta won’t be hitting the Xbox 360 and Xbox One until much later down the road. Bungie and Activision haven’t yet clarified if the game will be coming to the PC, but I would expect a confirmation on this sooner rather than later.

Destiny was originally planned to launch during the Spring of 2014. With both TitanFall and Watch Dogs slated to arrive during the early half of 2014, one could make the argument that Bungie and Activision wanted to spread this game out to avoid competition. The most interesting thing about this move is that now it will be closer to the time that a Halo game usually comes out. While Microsoft haven’t outright confirmed that Halo 5 is coming next fall, we do know that it’s highly likely that it will. Destiny is already one of 2014’s most anticipated games and it will be interesting to see if it does indeed live up to all the expectations.

Will any of you be picking up Destiny when it hits stores on September 9th? Please feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
