One of the few games that fully utilized the PlayStation Vita’s touch controls was Media Molecule’s Tearaway. You would think that a title like this couldn’t be ported to the PlayStation 4 but that’s exactly what’s happened. During their Gamescom 2014 press conference, Sony indeed announced that the once PlayStation Vita exclusive was coming over to the PlayStation 4 as Tearaway Unfolded.
Given that the PS4 has a touch pad in its DualShock 4 controller, having the game be playable on the system wasn’t that hard to do. In the trailer we see how the DS’ touch controls enable actions like wind blowing and throwing objects. The lightbar is used to great effect as well and players will be able to use it to bring light to shadowy places of the game.
This is great news for guys like me who missed out on Tearaway the first time. Personally speaking, I want to play the original first so I can see how this one compares. The trailer doesn’t specify an exact release date or if this title will be cross-buy compatible so make sure to stay tuned for when those announcements are made.
